Don't you know you are NEVER to question the actions of the almighty school district? You should know that any/all actions they take are ALWAYS in the best interest of the children. Or so they hope you believe. As for home values, they're tanking because of the economy, not the quality of the school district. There are much better school districts than EK and their home values are in the toilet too. Home values, another school levy myth.

I attended the meeting last night and would say that it was a failure and waste of time. The board was scattered throughout the audience which kept the audience from addressing specific members.Any answers that were given were incomplete and given in an adversarial manner. The issue here is not about Salaries for Teachers and staff. It is about getting our Children an education. If the school closed the children will be "crammed" into 2 existing schools. I feel this will degrade East Knox's ability to educate our children. That fact goes beyond just the effect on the children. If Our school system fails then home values will decline. New Industry will not wish to come into the community. The effects will be widespread. It was a shame the meeting was sore poorly done for such an important matter.

I'm sure the people of Bladensburg are seeing the closing for what it is, an attempt to get levy money from them. The key sentence was "The board wants to wait and see what happens in November, before making any decisions." They are putting the people on notice. If they don't pass a levy, the district will close their school. Amy VanFryman is correct, if the school is closed the district will being crying there's not enough room in class and more money is needed to build more space.
