No more cursive writing?

MOUNT VERNON — The newly adopted state Common Core curriculum does not require schools to teach cursive writing, although individual districts may continue to do so. The focus will now be on keyboarding skills.

I print because there have been times I was unable to read MY handwriting.

How will one who has had no training in cursive writing be able to sign a name — with an “x” ?

I hope they still teach kids to READ it at least. Imagine if all of a sudden, no one knew how to read cursive writing. Hundreds of thousands of old documents would be gibberish unless they were transcribed into block letters.

hmmmm you might just be on to something Manticore…maybe they “don’t” want future generations to be able to read those old documents, like maybe the Constitution?????
