MOUNT VERNON — Rolls-Royce announced the layoff of 57 union laborers on Friday.

    Never mind the fact that if the people that are being layed-off are assembly, that all those office people won’t be needed either. If nobody is building the Units then nobody is needed in any other aspects of the operation. The Mayor doesn’t mention 3 new Rolly-Royce plants being built 2 in the US and one in South America. Rolls-Royce is land locked, no where near water so the units can be shipped easier to customers. Talk about deniability, get u r head out of the sand Mayor. TRW was also lost and then ex-union president and city council member John Booth and yourself stated that loosing TRW wouldn’t have an effect on Mt.Vernon. Did they ever make it past the 10 year tax abatement they were given??  Lost taxes, lost jobs, lost revenue.  Recession Does that ring a bell??

    Hopefully they will be back at work soon. The economy would seem to indicate otherwise, however.
