Mr. Young you are probably from Mount Vernon or the local area and aware of the surroundings. When you are in a unfamiliar area and driving a big rig it is much different. I have been driving for many years and like many cities Mount Vernon could use some better sign age.
I cant speak for all GPS but I rely on my Tom Tom as it takes me thru town as I should go.

I actually drove home last night and followed 36 just to see how bad it is. I counted 5 signs that tell traffic to turn left at the Park Street intersection. If these truckers would follow the signs they would be alright. I do agree that Mount Vernon should get in contact with whatever company lays out the GPS routes and let them know the traffic patterns with this city. Maybe also a 4 way stop sign should be placed at that intersection so that trucks have to stop and see the 5 signs that tell them to turn left.

some one should notify the city they need to mark the truck routes easier for the truckers to follow. Instead of using it for an easy money maker for the city when they fine the poor tucker who didn't see the only 13x9 sign saying no through trucks. This towns signage is hard for even people passing though to navigate.

If a driver does not follow his gps/ trip set often they get into trouble from deviating from the set route as set by the company. If I recall from the square to N.Park St. IS St. Rt. 36 according to the national highway system map, You have to jog over E.Chestnut St. Mr. Smith may not give a damn, But start targeting local truckers & you may have a heck of a mess like they did in Washington D.C. Maybe Mr.Smith should get out from behind his desk & go out there & put a bigger sign up, Otherwise Deal With It.
