Sheriff’s office announces results of “Operation Safe Summer”

MOUNT VERNON — The results from day one of the offender check conducted by the Knox County Sheriff’s Office and other local agencies. Of the 78 sex offenders that are registered with the Knox County Sheriff’s Office, officers were able to verify that 50 were in compliance. Officers will continue to follow up on the remaining 28 persons to make sure that they are also in compliance.
During the compliance check officers were also attempting to locate persons with active criminal warrants.
Two people were arrested on active warrants
Stephen W. Smithson Keller Rd. Butler -Warrant on Indictment for possession of heroin.
Ryan L Brown Keller Rd. Butler- Warrant for failure to report to jail for traffic offenses.
