MOUNT VERNON — A 48-year-old woman was found dead in a vehicle parked near Papa John’s on Friday night.

Knox County Coroner Dr. Jennifer Ogle said Alicia Wilson was pronounced dead at the scene.

A Papa John’s employee called the Mount Vernon Police Department and reported he believed a person was passed out in a vehicle in the parking lot. Upon arrival, a MVPD officer saw a woman “in the driver’s seat with her seat belt on and she was slumped over into the passenger seat.”

The vehicle was running and the lights were on. According to the report, it appeared the woman had been deceased for an extended period of time.

No cause of death has been established but Ogle said she does not suspect foul play, however, alcohol could be a factor.
