UTICA — The Foster’s Mount Vernon 12-year-old All-Stars lost in their preseason championship tournament game on Monday, falling to Southwest Licking All-Stars, 3-0, in Utica.

Mount Vernon managed just two hits in the game. Colton Finnell and A.J. Camillo each singled.

Connor Curry pitched the first two innings of the game, getting two strikeouts and allowing one walk. He allowed two hits and all three runs by Southwest Licking. Finnell pitched the next two innings, allowing no hits while striking out two. Carson Carpenter pitched the final inning, striking out the side and walking one.

The team begins district play in Pataskala on Sunday at 5:30 p.m.
