This Mount Vernon Police cruiser was heavily damaged in a collision at the intersection of South Mulberry Street and West Ohio Avenue at 7:52 a.m. today. Ohio State Highway Patrol Lt. Toby Smith said Patrolman Brian Weiser was southbound on South Mulberry Street on a run with lights and siren on. Roseanne Thomas, 46, Mount Vernon, was driving west on West Ohio Avenue and ran into the left side of the cruiser, knocking it sideways and backwards. The right rear corner of the cruiser hit a street sign and tree that caused the vehicle to roll over. Both drivers escaped with minor injuries. The patrol, which investigates crash involving other law enforcement vehicles, will hand over the results of the crash to the Mount Vernon City Law Director’s Office to determine whether a citation will be issued.
