MOUNT VERNON — Reported break-ins of six units at Affordable Mini Storage on Main Street are the latest of several such acts reported recently.
In the latest incident, owner Dan Geiger reported six units had their locks cut off and removed. Owners were contacted, but Mount Vernon Police said no theft reports had been received from individual renters as of Thursday afternoon.
Previously, break-ins at K&P Mini Storage on Pittsburgh Avenue on Oct. 27-28 were reported to the Knox County Sheriff’s Office, and the locks of at least four units were reported cut off at Mount Vernon Storage on Harcourt Road the night of Nov. 2.
There was also a break-in recently at the old PPG building. Dan Geiger reported that the building was broken into between Oct. 21 and 26. Copper pipe was stolen, the electrical system was torn up and the building was flooded.
MOUNT VERNON — There is an active warrant out for Rodney Milburn, 33, Cardington, for failure to appear on burglary charges from the Morrow County Sheriff’s Office.
Milburn is a suspect in at least one burglary in Knox County and also suspected in burglaries in other counties.
The Knox County Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone with information on Milburn to call the office at (740) 397-3333.
MOUNT VERNON — Sheriff deputies have taken several reports of counterfeit money being passed at local businesses. The first reports were involving one dollar and five dollar bills. Yesterday, deputies took a second report of twenty dollar bills being passed. Most of the businesses appear to be bars and gas stations. The Knox County Sheriff’s Office are urging businesses to use the security marking pen on any money that they suspect may be counterfeit.
