MOUNT VERNON — An early, mild winter and late winter blast of cold weather made for an average year for Snow Trails Ski Resort in Mansfield, reported Marketing Manager Nate Wolleson. He added that the 2006-07 winter season was much the same for all others in the ski industry.
“It’s always tough to have a start to a winter like that,” he said.
After about mid-January, the customers began to come on a more consistent basis, Wolleson said. The later winter weather helped the business make up somewhat for the shaky beginning. He said he was not at liberty to provide detailed information on annual revenue.
Wolleson added that Snow Trails can make its own snow, provided the temperature is cold enough.
“If we didn’t get one bit of snow we could still stay open for a while,” Wolleson said.
He said people from all over the state come to Snow Trails, including those from as far away as Sandusky. This year was the first year the park had tubing, which, unlike skiing, anyone can do.
Wolleson said that, even though Snow Trails closed for the winter season on March 18, there are still upcoming offseason events. More information on these events is available on www.snowtrails.com.
