Defendants: informants stole from police
MOUNT VERNON -- Two local men and a local woman who pleaded guilty to drug trafficking said the informant that Mount Vernon police used to buy drugs from them, stole drugs and money from the police.

HOMER -- A follow-up inspection by the Division of State Fire Marshal at Homer Elementary on Thursday showed all 22 violations found during a Dec. 12 inspection had been satisfactorily corrected, according to Principal Penny Ziegler.

MOUNT VERNON -- The director and four board members of the Knox County Board of Elections met with county commissioners on Thursday to discuss the department's budget for 2008.

SPARTA -- Brandon Geiger scored 19 points to lead the Highland High School boys basketball team to a 54-43 win over North Union in Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference action on Thursday night.

HOWARD -- The Fredericktown High School girls basketball team's winning streak stayed alive on Thursday night when the Freddies beat host East Knox, 46-30.
