FREDERICKTOWN -- Two local fire departments are working with the Amish community to ensure Amish children are safe from fire hazards while at school. For the first time this year, local Amish schools are being inspected by the Eastern Knox County Joint Fire District and the Fredericktown Community Fire District.

Irish defeat Jackets
MOUNT VERNON -- The Dublin Scioto High School boys basketball team rolled into Mount Vernon on Friday night undefeated and hungry for another win. The Irish ended up getting the victory over the Yellow Jackets, but not without a fierce competition that lasted the entire second half.

Patriots sweep Mount Vernon
GAMBIER -- Kellyn Caldwell and Sarah Freshwater each notched three first-place finishes for the Mount Vernon High School swim team on Friday night, but it was not enough as the Yellow Jackets lost to Olentangy Liberty, 112-54. The boys also lost, 88-82.

Jacket girls drop close game to rival Pacers
DELAWARE -- It fought back from an eight-point deficit to bring the score to within one point, but the Mount Vernon High School girls basketball team couldn't pick up a road victory on Friday night. The Yellow Jackets lost a nonconference matchup to the Delaware Hayes Pacers, 47-44.
