MOUNT VERNON — Randy Pore, director and senior planner of the Knox County Regional Planning Commission office, is stepping down after seven years on the job. He will accept the position as the village administrator of Lexington.
“After several weeks of consideration of what was best for me and my family, I decided to take the position,” Pore said. “This was without question the most difficult decision I have had to make in my relatively young career. Not difficult in where I will be going, but difficult in what I will be leaving.”
Pore has served not only as secretary of the commission during its monthly meetings, but has acted as the administrator of the commission office in the county service building. He has consistently received positive job performance reviews by the commission leaders and county officials.
“The seven years I have been with the Knox County Regional Planning Commission have been extremely rewarding,” he said. “I can only hope that I have provided as much value to the commission as I feel the commission has given to me.”
Pore said his last official day will be Feb. 29 and he will begin the job in Lexington on March 3. He added that he plans to do all he can to help in the smooth transfer of his responsibilities before leaving and, although his priorities will lie in Lexington, he will help in the smooth transfer of his duties and help the commission in any way he can in the years to come.
Pore said the county is accepting applications for the position. The application deadline is Feb. 1.
The Knox County Regional Planning Commission is the county planning agency that handles issues such as lot splits, rezoning applications for parcels in the county, township zoning amendments and the various stages of approval involved in major subdivisions.
