MOUNT VERNON — Daniel R. Shannon, 20, 15 E. Vine St., confessed to police he was the man that Donald Yauger saw in his home at 105 N. Gay St., Wednesday afternoon. After the investigation, Knox County Prosecutor John Thatcher charged Shannon with burglary and safe cracking Thursday.
According to the Mount Vernon Police report, Shannon said Yauger was positively identified after he was picked up in a blind alley next to his apartment building. Officers quickly located Shannon after Yauger called police and gave a good description of the suspect that was in his home.

He also said he knocked on the door and when on one answered he forced the entry and added he was by himself. He declined to write a statement of his activities making only verbal statements.
He was jailed and charged with probation violation. Shannon has a criminal record and was sentenced, March 17, 2006, to 15 months in jail by Knox County Common Pleas Court for burglary, attempted burglary and theft of drugs.
