CENTERBURG -- For 45 agonizing, terrifying minutes Monday morning, in a car upside down in a creek and hanging from the seat belt, Sylvia Gibson said she kept thinking what a horrible way to die.

Property taxes delayed by computer glitch
MOUNT VERNON -- A computer glitch has slowed the printing and distribution of property tax statements, according to Knox County Treasurer Sandra Mizer, but the deadline for paying without penalty will be extended to reflect the delay.

MV man sentenced to 15 months
MOUNT VERNON -- A Mount Vernon man was sentenced on Friday to 15 months in prison for offering to sell drugs to a confidential informant for the Mount Vernon Police Department. Paul J. McGregor, 25, pleaded guilty on Friday to one count of aggravated trafficking of drugs, a fourth-degree felony, and possession of heroin, a third-degree felony.
