MV Council appoints committee members

MOUNT VERNON — Mount Vernon City Council president John Booth said only three resolutions were passed at last night’s meeting, each relating to council member appointments to serve as representatives to other agencies.

John Fair was appointed to the Mid-Ohio Transit Authority board; Burt Hansen will be council’s representative to the Visitors’ Bureau, and council representative to the Regional Planning Commission is Rebecca Jordan, with Bruce Hawkins appointed alternate. Booth said council also agreed to join RPC, and appointed Mayor Richard Mavis, Larry Schafer and Nancy Vail as city representatives to that organization. Larry Waltman is the alternate.

In committee meetings prior to council, Booth said, lowering the speed limit on East High Street was discussed, as was a traffic study regarding speed on Gambier Street east of Edgewood Drive.
