Commissioners, ADF discuss marketing project

MOUNT VERNON — Knox County Commissioners Tom McClarnan and Bob Wise met on Monday with Steve Wears, president of the Area Development Foundation, to discuss the latest marketing project to attract food-related companies to Knox County.

The marketing plan, according to Wears, is to send a three-part mailer directly to about 400 companies, and shortly thereafter begin with follow-up phone calls. The marketing project will begin in late February or early March. The current project, in which Knox and Coshocton counties will collaborate, is aimed at drawing attention to the two mid-Ohio counties.

“We think it’s going to be a very good project,” said Wears.

The commissioners and Wears believe Knox County is attractive for potential investment because the county has excess water capacity and also because of the Loma-Linda plant on Wooster Road that is sitting idle. The cost of the marketing project is $13,500; $7,000 will be covered by the commissioners.
