Suspect described in armed robberies

MOUNT VERNON — The Mount Vernon Police Department is investigating a series of three armed robberies that occurred in Mount Vernon in the month of January.

The first two robberies occurred on Jan. 5 and Jan. 6 at the Speedway Gas Station on Columbus Road. The third robbery took place a few blocks away, at the Sunoco Gas Station on Newark Road, on Jan. 18.

The suspect is described as a white male, 5-feet 10 inches to 6 feet in height, with a medium build, scruffy facial hair and black-rimmed glasses. According to witnesses, the suspect has a “lazy eye” and possible speech impediment.

The MVPD asks that anyone with information pertaining to the suspect call the Detective Division at the Mount Vernon Police Department,-393-9530.
