DANVILLE — Danville dentists Thomas Glibert and Lisa Moster opened their practice on Friday to those without dental insurance during their 18th annual Free Day of Dentistry.

“We’ve seen 800-plus patients over those 18 years and we went over the $80,000 mark for dentistry that we’ve contributed free,” said Thomas Glibert, DDS.

Not having dental insurance often keeps many Knox County residents out of the dentist’s chair.

“What we try to do is target the people who don’t have the benefit of insurance, or the benefit of Medicaid, as far as getting some of their dental work done,” Glibert said. “There’s so many people out there, like that, living in pain because they aren’t able to get their dental work done because of the cost.”

Along with Glibert and Moster, three hygienists and about 10 other staff members donated their time on Friday.

“Everybody, in all the years we’ve done this, gives freely of their time; they aren’t paid on this day,” Glibert said.

Their efforts did not go unnoticed. Patients in for dental work were all grateful for the opportunity to get the services they needed but couldn’t otherwise afford.

“It’s very nice of them to have this for those of us who don’t have insurance, especially dental insurance,” said Gary Campbell who was taking advantage of the free services. “This is a good thing for the community.

Sara Hostetler was very grateful for the services saying that she was happy to be able to bring her son, Hunter, in for dental care.
