MOUNT VERNON -- A Knox County grand jury handed down an indictment against William Garlic on Monday, on two counts of aggravated arson and one count of arson.

Democrats elect two commissioner candidates
MOUNT VERNON -- Knox County Democrats gathered in Mazza's Restaurant on Tuesday night to hear the results of the primary elections. There was an atmosphere of hushed excitement as candidates and supporters waited for the results to come in.

Republicans decide close primary races
MOUNT VERNON -- Knox County Republicans gathered at The Alcove on Tuesday night to receive election results, which were late coming in, due to voting machine problems elsewhere in the state. A number of hotly contested races were decided by close margins, according to the unofficial vote totals provided by the board of elections.

MRDD levy passes
MOUNT VERNON -- Forty-five percent of Knox County voters turned out Tuesday, casting their votes for a number of positions and a variety of levies.

School issues pass in Centerburg, East Knox
MOUNT VERNON -- Four school districts had issues on Tuesday's primary ballot. Two districts, Centerburg and East Knox, were successful in their efforts, one, Highland is still up in the air, and Johnstown-Monroe had mixed results.
