MOUNT VERNON -- Their high school basketball careers now over, several area high school senior girls basketball players competed in the 29th annual Mount Vernon News All-Star Senior Showcase on Tuesday night.

MOUNT VERNON -- Tuesday night was a night for local seniors to display their talents one last time at the 29th annual Mount Vernon News All-Star Senior Showcase, and that is exactly what they did. In particular, it was those on the Senior-Stars squad which came away with a 113-86 victory over the All-Stars.

DELAWARE -- Jason Blubaugh, a confidential informant for the Mount Vernon Police Department, was indicted on drug charges Friday in Delaware County.

MOUNT VERNON -- John McBride of Mount Vernon found himself facing $3.45when he pulled into Speedway to refill his gas tank on Tuesday. He said he is retired and relies on Social Security benefits and the rising gas prices make it tough on him and his wife to get by.

Parents raise questions about requirement
MOUNT VERNON -- A middle school parent delegation addressed the Mount Vernon City Schools Board of Education on Monday, raising some concerns about the requirement that students obtain permission slips if they want to participate in a club activity during lunchtime.
