Shooter presents county statistics
MOUNT VERNON -- The Knox County Board of Commissioners had one meeting Monday, with Roger Shooter, director of the Jobs and Family Services Department. Shooter presented the commissioners with statistics concerning food stamps and medical expenditures for the county.

Poor pruning leads to loss of old tree
MOUNT VERNON -- Employees at the Knox County Courthouse arrived at work Monday morning to find that one of two trees over 100 years old had been cut down over the weekend. According to a former Division of Forestry employee, poor pruning and lawnmower damage had injured both trees to the point where they should be felled and removed.

Fuller wraps up career as Player of the Year
MOUNT VERNON -- In the four years since Lissi Fuller left Mount Vernon, she has been a lot of places and seen a lot of different things. From the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean, Fuller has had opportunities beyond her expectations -- all thanks in part to her basketball skills.

KCCC builds new addition - VIDEO
The Knox County Career Center is building a new addition to its main building. The addition will house the Chef and Catering program and related facilities. This will free up room in the main building for other Career Center programs

Ohio's first lady visits county
MOUNT VERNON -- Ohio's first lady visited Knox County on Monday afternoon to speak with leaders of the county's social services agencies and exchange ideas with the Knox County Family and Children First Council. Frances Strickland also wanted to hear feedback, ideas, advice and solutions, as well as all about Knox County.

Next step taken on Gay Street project
MOUNT VERNON -- City Council adopted a resolution allowing the administration to take the next step toward converting South Gay Street from brick to asphalt, a project debated again and again by city officials over the last several months.
