McDonald: Proposed facility not a megafarm
MOUNT VERNON -- In a meeting with the board of commissioners Monday, Jim and Martha McDonald said they are doing their best to work with and cooperate with all of the parties concerned with the construction of a chicken-raising facility north of Mount Vernon near Ohio 3 in Monroe Township.

Suspect attempts to steal ATM
GAMBIER -- Knox County Sheriff's deputies are searching for the person responsible for a break-in early Friday morning at the Kenyon Athletic Center.

MOUNT VERNON -- Last Wednesday morning, severe weather alert sirens were tested as part of Severe Weather Awareness Week across the state. According to Brian Hess, deputy director of the Knox County Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management, there was little feedback to his department, which was good news.

Jackets overcome weather to win at home
MOUNT VERNON -- The Mount Vernon High School baseball team was finally able to get the 2008 season under way on Tuesday following Monday's rainout with Northridge. The Yellow Jackets were slated to travel to Marion Pleasant to face the Spartans, but the game was moved to Mount Vernon due to wet fields.

Mount Vernon picks up win
MOUNT VERNON -- The Mount Vernon High School boys volleyball team dominated its home opener on Tuesday night. The Yellow Jackets beat Olentangy Liberty in three games, 25-16, 25-12, 25-6, at Mount Vernon Middle School.

Jacket tennis wins opener
MOUNT VERNON -- Though conditions were certainly not ideal, with winds gusting throughout the match, the Mount Vernon High School boys tennis team was able to kick off its season with a 3-2 victory over Mansfield Christian on Tuesday afternoon. The weather did force the teams to score based on the Super Pro Set, but that did not stop the Yellow Jackets.
