MOUNT VERNON -- The owner of The Curtis Inn on the Square, originally charged with solicitation, pleaded guilty on March 11 to a reduced charge of persistent disorderly conduct, a fourth-degree misdemeanor.

FREDERICKTOWN -- Enforcement of encroachment rules by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources has some Knox Lake homeowners unhappy. Homeowners had a chance to have their questions and concerns answered at an informational meeting Thursday night with ODNR officials.

MOUNT VERNON -- It was just what the doctor ordered. A six-inning, complete-game performance by Mount Vernon senior pitcher Kyle Shackle and an 11-hit attack gave the Yellow Jackets (2-1) a 12-2 victory over River View on Thursday. Nine different Jackets scored in a game, which was called with two out in the bottom of the sixth due to the 10-run rule.

MOUNT VERNON -- Rain and cold were both in attendance at the Mount Vernon High School softball game on Thursday night. The Yellow Jackets dropped a home game against the visiting River View Black Bears, 6-1.
