MOUNT VERNON -- The owner of The Curtis Inn on the Square, originally charged with solicitation, pleaded guilty on March 11 to a reduced charge of persistent disorderly conduct, a fourth-degree misdemeanor.

Jackets pound on Black Bears
MOUNT VERNON -- It was just what the doctor ordered. A six-inning, complete-game performance by Mount Vernon senior pitcher Kyle Shackle and an 11-hit attack gave the Yellow Jackets (2-1) a 12-2 victory over River View on Thursday. Nine different Jackets scored in a game, which was called with two out in the bottom of the sixth due to the 10-run rule.

Buckeyes'Gholston coming to Home and Garden show
MOUNT VERNON -- Ohio State football fans have a rare opportunity on Saturday to get up close and personal with one of the Buckeyes'top defenders from this past season. Defensive end Vernon Gholston will be in Mount Vernon for an autograph session at the Home and Garden Show from 1 to 4 p.m.

Rough start cost Mount Vernon a victory
MOUNT VERNON -- Rain and cold were both in attendance at the Mount Vernon High School softball game on Thursday night. The Yellow Jackets dropped a home game against the visiting River View Black Bears, 6-1.
