Cartwright's motion to suppress sample denied
MOUNT VERNON -- Charged with multiple counts of aggravated vehicular homicide, William P. Cartwright appeared in court on Friday to argue that a blood sample taken from him was illegally obtained and should not be allowed into evidence against him.

MOUNT LIBERTY -- Liberty Township was settled in 1805 by pioneers from Pennsylvania, was established as a township in 1822, and was reported to be a wild and dangerous place by some. Hill's "History of Knox County, Ohio,"written in 1881, mentions one Lewis Bricker Sr. of Green County, Pa., who wanted to establish farms in Liberty Township for himself and his entire family. He purchased 1,600 acres, and in 1810 sent relatives on ahead.

Number of court cases consistent with prior years
MOUNT VERNON -- Mount Vernon Municipal Court processed 8,147 cases in 2007, according to its recently released annual report. Municipal Clerk Judy Smith said that although traffic cases were down slightly this year, the total number is consistent with past years.
