Fredericktown approves new radio channel
FREDERICKTOWN -- Arlin Bradford of Vasu Communications of Mansfield addressed Fredericktown Village Council on Monday about placing the equipment necessary to add a new repeating radio channel at the top of the Fredericktown water tower. Larry Schunke, Fredericktown Community Fire District asssistant chief, also attended the council meeting.

Martinsburg considers community block watch
MARTINSBURG -- Knox County Sheriff's Deputy Kenneth Aurand spoke to the Martinsburg Village Council about forming a Community Block Watch when council met Monday night.

Council addresses major water leak
GAMBIER -- The village lost thousands of gallons of water Sunday and Monday after one of its plastic water pipes exploded early Sunday morning, leaving a number of residents without water. A boil advisory that went into effect after the break is expected to be lifted around noon today.

Fire chief updates Gambier on department developments

MOUNT VERNON -- The Knox County Board of Commissioners met with representatives from the Knox County Humane Society on Monday morning to discuss its facilities. Peggy Kimple, canine program manager for the humane society, and Marla McCutchen, volunteer for the animal shelter and humane society, were present.

Three injured in two-car crash near Danville
DANVILLE -- Three people were injured in a two-vehicle collision Monday night on Ohio 514, one mile north of Danville. Rodney Baumgartner, 41, Danville, was flown by MedFlight helicopter to Ohio State University Medical Center, where he is listed in serious condition.

Yellow Jackets can't hit in road defeat
MOUNT VERNON -- For the third game in a row, the bats of the Mount Vernon High School softball team remained quiet. The Yellow Jackets picked up just two hits, including just one out of the infield, in a 7-1 road loss at Westerville South.

Freddies overpower Trojans, win 11-1
CENTERBURG -- The Fredericktown Freddies used a strong start and a great finish to knock off the Centerburg Trojans, 11-1, in six innings Monday afternoon. The Freddies used timely hitting and another strong pitching performance from Merrit Zollars to get the win.

Wildcats knock off Jackets
WESTERVILLE -- Playing on the road is never an easy feat, and the Mount Vernon High School boys baseball team found this out Monday night against Westerville South.
