Face to face with a modern chicken farm - VIDEO
NEWCASTLE -- Herb Miller's broiler chicken farm stands on a rolling hill less than a mile south of the hamlet of Newcastle in Coshocton County. The farm was the site of a tour held Thursday by Case Farms to give a glimpse of a broiler-raising facility to Knox County officials and concerned neighbors of a similar operation planned for Monroe Township.

Aseptic meningitis confirmed at Danville
DANVILLE -- Although a suspected case of aseptic (viral) meningitis has been confirmed in a Danville Schools employee, there is no cause for alarm, according to Jackie Fletcher of the Knox County Health Department.

Work continues on square project
MOUNT VERNON -- Workers have been digging flower beds, uprooting old parking meters and shrubs, and laying stone. The latest Public Square improvement project is moving along nicely, according to Mount Vernon Mayor Richard Mavis, thanks in part to the nice weather this week.

County, resident discuss access across proposed trail
MOUNT VERNON -- The Knox County Board of Commissioners met with Tom Marshall of Mount Liberty on Thursday morning to discuss the issue of the Marshall family's access conflicting with the Heart of Ohio Trail, which is under construction. Also present at the meeting were Kim Marshall, director of the Knox County Park Department, and Teresa Bemiller and John Booth, who will both run for the position of commissioner in November.

Bulldogs pull out win over Trojans
CENTERBURG -- The ability to bounce back from adversity can show a lot about the character of a team. The East Knox High School baseball team showed some character in a 7-4 victory over the Centerburg Trojans on Thursday night.

Redskins, Johnnies win Utica titles
UTICA -- A win on their home track is something the Utica High School boys tracksters wanted, and its just what they got on Thursday night. The Utica boys edged out Licking Valley by one point to win the Utica Invitational, while the Johnstown girls won the girls meet by five points over Lakewood.
