Taking it to the Streets
How easy do you think it will be for the city to enforce its ban on off-site signs?
I’m not sure.

That’s a good question. I’d have to think about that.

It seems like it's just another way to discriminate against
the deaf. My husband (Phil) has a hard enuf time getting
around town with having to worry about signing in the wrong
place. Honestly I didn't even know there was a law
restricing where the deaf could sign. I reckon it will be
hard for them to enforce and I think it's wrong.

It would be a challenge, I don't think they have the muscle
to cover that.

Oh yeah... this should be high on the cities list of things
to ban. First cruising now this, where will the madness
end?? How about banning open fires? people in our
neighborhood are still burning, now they're just called
cooking fires. The whole problem is that the person who had
enough time and energy to put them up is too lazy and tired
to take the down. Giv'm a ticket.

Off-site signs can be a valuable amendment to urban soil,
providing much needed nutrients and organic matter. That is
if left to decompose on site and not our current shameful
practice of toss and forget. Leaving off-site signs on site
would also add an interesting layer of history to the yards
and parks of Mount Vernon much like the Western Wall in Old
Jerusalem. I encourage people to leave many things to be
taken in by the earth. On trips I frequent to Mount Vernon
I’ll look for a clearing to leave old newspapers and office
waste.

I’m absolutely appalled by most of these comments, thanks
you Dr. Lowenburg for bringing a little bit of intelligence
to the conversation.

More importantly, what is it going to cost the taxpayers of
the city to enforce this ban? Does this also include signs
put up by the city to promote city events?

Dear Dr. Lowenburg...What?? This isnt The Old West ot
Jerusalem. You say on frequent trips to Mt. Vernon you leave
old papers and office waste in a clearing. Isn't that called
littering?? Which is against the the Law?? Does Gambier
allow off site signs?? bet not... Leave your trash there or
beter yet Recycle!!

Why not use county jail prisoners to clean up the sides of
the roads and to take down these signs. May as well get
some use out of them.

Thank goodness they are taking care of this. I get so
depreased when I see somebody's poor little puppy dog is
lost. Then I have to see that sign everytime I'm out for a
powerwalk. Guys, I'm sorry that little doggy is lost but
don't let missing dogs bum the rest of us out.

I'm I guess that would be okay, but goss that seams like
lots of work. well now I don't know, I've alway been a
supporter of off-site, but you know a lot of thing can be
taken care of on site. Instead of China.

This is long overdue! These signs look junky. The realtors
especially think they can plop a sign anywhere & leave
em for yrs. in some cases.
