Heating system to be checked in county building

MOUNT VERNON — Roger Shooter, director of Jobs & Family Services, met with the Knox County Board of Commissioners on Monday morning. The meeting was the commissioners’ only one of the day open to the public.

The meeting was brief and consisted of Shooter reporting that Buck Withers of Withers Design Group would be inspecting the Knox County Children’s Advocacy Center on East High Street on Wednesday. One of the main items in the building to be inspected, said Shooter, is the heating and cooling system.

“There are so many different temperatures throughout that house,” said Shooter, “[Withers] has got to figure out a way to make them at least reasonable.”

After the inspection, said Shooter, Withers will be able to supply his office with statistics and specifications of the building in order to begin renovation work in the future.

“Hopefully [Withers] will get all that done on Wednesday and we’ll have some specs for you to look at,” Shooter told the commissioners.

Withers has previously worked for the county designing the Children’s Resource Center and Opportunity Knox buildings, according to Shooter.
