Herald’s undergoes complete renovation

MOUNT VERNON — Herald’s Appliances & Electronics on South Main Street got a complete face lift about a month ago, according to store owner Phil Herald. He said the inside was basically torn apart and put back together again in more visually pleasing fashion, to wow customers and to show off the latest technology.

In addition to new carpeting, newly painted walls and new large home entertainment pictures on the wall, the left wall near the front of the store is lined with flat screen televisions; behind those is a space between two wooden dividers meant to resemble the walls of a room to give people a better idea of how the new screen will look in a house. Near the back of the store there is a replica of a living room, with a sofa, a new 65-inch flat screen television with full surround sound, DVD player, and an Xbox 360 with the popular game Guitar Hero inside.

“We feel this year and next year people will be buying more flat screen, HGTVs,” Herald said.

There is also a replica of a kitchen near the back of the store to show off the store’s appliances.
