Two local educators debate the standardize testing that are occurring this week in the schools.

GAMBIER -- Using the theme "Healthy People, Healthy World,"the second annual Earth Day Health Expo took place at the Kenyon Athletic Center on Sunday afternoon.

Over 120 runners and walkers participated in Sunday's Earth Day Challenge Marathon. The 26.1 mile course took participants from Mount Vernon to Danville and back to Gambier along the Kokosing Gap Trail with a loop that ran through Gambier.

NORTH LIBERTY -- Pike Township has some fine hills, and, despite their steep grades, most are used for cropland and pasture.

MOUNT VERNON -- Barely five miles northwest of Mount Vernon, Granny Creek is slowly cutting into the gravelly plateau left behind by the retreating Wisconsinan glacier of 10,000 years ago.

MOUNT VERNON -- The Mohawk Dam, located about 25 miles east of Mount Vernon on the Walhonding River, is still categorized as urgently in need of repair, but needed repairs on the dam are unlikely to begin for another few years.

FREDERICKTOWN -- "My kids and I have never lived in an actual house, only a trailer,"said Kristin Matuch of Fredericktown.

MOUNT VERNON -- Tracy Phillips said she would have preferred to give birth at Knox Community Hospital, where she would have had her family near at hand, instead of Grant Medical Center in Columbus.

BEXLEY -- Sunday provided Fredericktown High School senior Whitney Levering one last opportunity to hit the hardwood before she graduates. It also provided her an opportunity to play with and against some of the best girls basketball players in the state.

MOUNT VERNON -- Youth baseball is underway in Mount Vernon after Saturday"s opening ceremonies. The Mount Vernon Baseball Association kicked off play from ages 5 to 12.
