Village installs drop box

FREDERICKTOWN — The installation of a new drop box outside the Fredericktown Municipal Building will make it easier for village residents to pay their water bills and submit income tax payments. Village Council was informed at its regular meeting on Monday night that the box is located near the eastern side of the building.

In other business, council approved the payment of monthly bills, which totaled $171,487.69.

Ordinance 2008-5 was passed as an amendment to the annual appropriations for 2008. The amount designated for the wages for the zoning inspector increased from $3,200 to $3,225, and the amount allowed for supplies for the clerk treasurer changed from $20,100 to $16,427. Fiscal Officer Pat Steltzer said this was because the general fund had more than the county had available on the certificate.

Village Administrator Gary Gallogly said the dates for the village cleanup day and garage sale day have changed to May 3 and May 10, respectively.

Gallogly shared plans for the village to plant an Arbor Day tree on Burgett Drive, and reported that the village has repaired some of the damage done by the snowplows during the winter.
