Parents hear about online dangers
FREDERICKTOWN -- Law enforcement and support groups gathered from around the county last night to give a presentation to parents on the dangers of Internet predators. Hosted at the Fredericktown elementary school, police and detectives from the Westerville Internet Crime Enforcement team gave a presentation and offered the small crowd of parents a live, online demonstration of the dangers of Internet predators.

Airport receives grant for upgrades
MOUNT VERNON -- Last week it was announced that the Knox County Airport would receive a $1.3 million grant to complete upgrades at the facility. According to a press release issued by Congressman Zack Space on April 22, the grant is part of a Federal Aviation Administration's Airport Improvement Program.

Enforcement of smoking ban effective in county
MOUNT VERNON -- According to Brian Benick, director of environmental health at the Knox County Health Department, the department is not spending a large amount of money investigating smoking violations within the county, but is pursuing violators efficiently.

Brick walkway project raising funds for Freedom Center
MOUNT VERNON -- Last year the Alcohol and Drug Freedom Center of Knox County began selling engraved, paving bricks as a fundraiser. According to Executive Director Rick Schlegel, never before in its 30-year history has the nonprofit agency had a major fundraiser.

It's Turkey Season - VIDEO
Turkey season here in Ohio has been underway since April 21 and will continue until May 18. More than 200 turkeys have been tagged in Knox County so far this season.

Colts stay ahead in league, beat Wooster
BELLVILLE -- Consistency is something many strive for, as more often than not it will win the game for a ballclub. The Clear Fork High School softball team found that consistency Tuesday afternoon -- on the mound, at the plate and in the field. All of those factored into a 7-0 victory for the Colts over the visiting Wooster Generals.

Jackets run past visiting Braves
MOUNT VERNON -- After a strong weekend of competition at the Yellow Jacket Relays, the Mount Vernon High School boys and girls track teams were ready for a laid-back meet on Tuesday. The squads stayed at home to face -- and defeat -- Olentangy by some very solid margins.
