May 23, 2008, 11:16 am I am currently looking at bikes and checking routes to be able to get my kids to the sitter and me to work on time by riding a bicycle. Not only will it save money on gas but it will help me lose weight also. May 22, 2008, 9:43 pm I have already done something. I traded my 1998 Ford Windstar in for a 2007 Chevy Aveo. The van needed a lot of work and used a lot of gas. I drive 16 miles each way to work. The Aveo will get 34 mpg. May 22, 2008, 4:47 pm I'm gonna start playin the lotto and them scratch and win tickers more often. About the only ways I can get more money would be to win it. Welfare only pays you so much. Times is tuff. May 22, 2008, 4:44 pm NO, JUST WILL BE GOING TO PARKS AND HAVING PICNICS IN BACK YARD. May 22, 2008, 2:09 pm Free activities, Art museum, gardening, hoping not to have to starve the kids since the cost of food and gas have gone up. Camping in the back yard so I don't have to use electricity in the house since I can't afford that bill either. I plan to have summer of living Amish with the kids. May 22, 2008, 12:54 pm Sometimes, I think of Mount Vernon....and cry myself to sleep. May 22, 2008, 12:28 am Remember when a buffalo nickel would get you a cheap date and a cone of blister nuts, that’s how I save money, reminiscing about the past is free entertainment for the summer, try that kids instate of your ball games and city pool swimming! May 21, 2008, 11:53 pm Yes I am going to bring the bike out and start riding it everywhere so I dont have to spend a whole pay check on gas! HA! May 21, 2008, 4:28 pm Consider this for one of those one day trips. Go and see the Piatt Castles, Log cabin and then go down the road to the Ohio Caverns. This takes a day if you leave around 8. All this is over by Bellefontain. May 21, 2008, 3:09 pm Nope. May 21, 2008, 10:42 am REMEMBER .20/GAL GAS AND 35MPH SPEED? CUT BACK 10 MPH & BE REWARDED. TRIPS TO W.VA. ARE FEWER...GARDEN TIME. May 20, 2008, 6:03 pm We are going to do things here in OH (which is not much) instead of taking our normal out of state trip. It will save gas and hotel expenses. May 20, 2008, 3:46 pm Will not be doing much traveling outside Ohio. Planning on doing a lot of camping at our State Parks instead. Also looking into purchasing a scooter or small motorcycle to help ease the cost of fuel along with getting a part time job. May 20, 2008, 8:33 am Not really. But we have always been frugal, so we have a nest egg set aside that we take from and add to quite often. Our plans are not going to change though. May 19, 2008, 9:19 pm I'll continue to put gas in my car and not complain because we have to get gas to make money and spend money and we will continue to pay for gas and gripe. We griped at 2.50 a gal and then at 3 a gal and continued to fill up and now that it is almost 4 gal people are still filling up and still complaining and nothing is changing. I am getting married and going on a honeymoon and driving miles upon miles I will not let something that wont change weather I do it or not stop me from having the best summer. Those of you buying motor cycles the investment will probably pay off for doing that by the time gas is irrelevant. Just my two cents (which some people probably think i should have kept to my self) May 19, 2008, 8:46 pm HI, I have cut back by wearing my tight jean shorts from the 1980's rather than wearing kahki shorts like most people. I am a neck and also wear my old wife beaters rather than buying new ones this summer. May 19, 2008, 4:11 pm If the speed limit is 70 I have started locking in on 60 this is on I-77 my mileage went from 15.4 to 22.6MPG. while going to Westerville a few days ago I locked in on 55; MPH and was getting 24.5 MPG PS I get passed a lot. May 19, 2008, 3:05 pm We are only using the suv when needed. We have bought a couple of cheap used vehicles that are much better on gas. We will also be planting a larger garden. Suppose I'll learn how to can. Also looks like we'll be taking advantage of our hunting grounds this year. Oh and our hopes for a family vacation at the beach went when Skybus shut. This summer will be full of bonfires, star gazing, and s'mores. May 19, 2008, 9:20 am What did Junior Silo from Howard just say????? HMMMM May 19, 2008, 8:58 am dont cut out nascar. you must be crazy, that would be like cutting out beer. i mean who can go through life without our friends bud, pbr and coors. May 18, 2008, 12:40 pm We is driven just as much or maybe more, but fill in up only half as much, I thinks that we were getting to much gas in the first place. May 18, 2008, 7:06 am Surgery has to wait, but got to get to those NASCAR races.Have to have priorty in your life. May 17, 2008, 10:34 am We have cut back on driving. We bought a motorcycle so we can save on gas prices. If someone is heading to the store we make sure we ask others if they need anything while we are out. to help them save. We still buy the foods to a certain extent but we spend alot more for them. We normally take mini vacations throughout the year out of state but this year we will only be seeing things around Ohio if then. May 17, 2008, 9:56 am I started cut'n back on little things to save me money. Like my kids wanted to attend camp and I told them no. I also said my wife would wait to have surgery cause I got rid of my health insurance to save money. Normally I'd go to about 8 NASCAR races and instead I'm only going to be able to attend 5, but we all's got to make cuts to stay a step ahead of them bill collectors. May 17, 2008, 9:49 am Well, I’m not sure. We were going to do what used to be Wyandot [Lake], but now we’re thinking we may not do it this time ... because of gas. My car is easy on [gas], but we can’t all go in one. May 17, 2008, 8:08 am Drive a whole lot less, May 17, 2008, 8:07 am Yeah, riding my motorcycle more because of gas prices. May 17, 2008, 8:07 am “Yeah, no vacations ... no trips because of the price of gas [and the] cost of groceries. May 17, 2008, 8:07 am Yes ... [I’ll be] making less trips because of the gas prices.
