Millers explore Amazon rainforest - VIDEO
MOUNT VERNON -- Janet, 67, and Larry Miller, 69, like adventure. They've been to the Dominican Republic, Haiti and many other far-flung destinations. In their 50s, they began to sail their own sailboat to Cuba and Canada and on Lake Erie, and they don't mind roughing it in places with only cold water for bathing, kerosene lights, spiders and outhouses.

MV man ordered held without bail
MOUNT VERNON -- Elmer M. Chandler was ordered held without bail this morning by Municipal Judge Paul Spurgeon. Chandler, 74, is charged with one count of aggravated murder and one count of murder for allegedly causing the death of his 73-year-old wife on Tuesday. Chandler appeared in municipal court via video teleconference.

Group repeats demand for answer to Bible question
MOUNT VERNON -- After meeting with Mount Vernon school authorities Wednesday, representatives of the Mount Vernon chapter of Minutemen United have repeated their demand for a public statement on whether a classroom teacher is permitted to have a Bible on his or her desk.

Area athletes struggle on Day 1
PICKERINGTON -- Fredericktown sophomore Kaitlyn Newkirk placed seventh in the girls high jump, giving her the best finish among area athletes in Day 1 of the Divsion III Regional Track and Field Championships at Pickerington North High School.
