Danville hands out diplomas to 42

DANVILLE — Forty-two Danville High School students received their diplomas on Saturday. Following an invocation by student council president Kayla Hughes, Danville teacher Patrice Vincent delivered the commencement address.

Of the class of 2008, four students shared the valedictorian title. Kaitlin Durbin, Allyson Huffman, Kelby Hammond and Kelsey Durbin each spoke briefly to the other graduates.

School guidance counselor Randy Endsley handed out class honors and Superintendent Dan Harper officially presented the class for graduation. After several musical performances by the high school band and choir group, conducted by Christie Cochran and Amanda Lucarini, school board president Andrea Inverso and Principal Linda Kay Rex handed out diplomas to the graduating students.

Saturday’s ceremony marked the 119th annual commencement exercises of Danville High School.
