CENTERBURG — With the controversy stemming from Centerburg Mayor George Shaw seeming to be behind it, the Centerburg Village Council approved the rezoning of the proposed Creekside development project when it met Monday evening.
Mac Quillin spoke briefly during the citizen comments portion of the meeting, and said he had been working with the village and residents for about 20 months trying to get the Creekside development started. He asked the village to consider allowing construction to begin immediately. Council unanimously passed a resolution allowing Quillin to proceed with construction on the Creekside development project immediately.
Other items the council took action on included:
•Approving an application for a parade permit for the Centerburg High School homecoming parade, to be held on Sept. 24. The application was submitted by Student Council Advisor Natalie Stoyle.
•Unanimously waiving a third reading and passing a resolution to cut council members’ pay for attending extra meetings. This means that representatives from the village council attending a meeting of another entity will receive a flat rate and no extra money.
•Unanimously waiving a third reading and passing a resolution to authorize the village administrator, Phil Lohmeyer, to begin the process of seeking and taking bids to paint the village water tower.
•Passing an emergency resolution to allow Lohmeyer to begin the process of seeking and taking bids for the paving of village streets.
