Bridge of Dreams gets makeover - VIDEO
The Bridge of Dreams, the longest covered bridge in Ohio, is currently getting a face lift. Wooden sections of the structure are being stained and the steel portions have been primed and will receive a coat of paint.

Conservancy sponsors garden tour
MOUNT VERNON — The Owl Creek Conservancy is sponsoring its second annual garden tour on Saturday, June 28, from 1 to 5 p.m. The tour will feature three gardens from previous Most Beautiful Garden contests.

Bicycle tour to roll into town Monday
MOUNT VERNON — The 20th Annual Great Ohio Bicycle Adventure will be rolling into town Monday, bringing a projected 2,500 riders for a two-night stay, which will include a downtown bike race on Tuesday.

Bill would make volunteering in schools mandatory
MOUNT VERNON — Many schools depend upon and appreciate the innumerable hours of service parent volunteers provide, whether it be as a reading tutor, fundraising coordinator or field trip chaperone. Now, the Ohio Legislature is considering a bill that would make it mandatory for all parents to volunteer in their children's public schools.

Precautions needed when temperatures soar
