MOUNT VERNON — The Owl Creek Conservancy is sponsoring its second annual garden tour on Saturday, June 28, from 1 to 5 p.m. The tour will feature three gardens from previous Most Beautiful Garden contests.
The contest is sponsored by Owl Creek Conservancy and the Mount Vernon News. Over the years, incredible gardens have been highlighted by the contest, but the only true way to appreciate these gardens is to personally experience them.
The gardens on this year’s tour include:
•Mike and Romona Compton, 10360 Hazel Dell Road, Howard.
•Bill and Amy Gordon, 740 King Beach Drive, Howard (Apple Valley).
•Bob and Patty Pelfrey, 7805 Billman Road, Gambier.
These open house-style tours allow gardening enthusiasts the opportunity to speak one-on-one with the gardener, to share a common passion as well as helpful tips and advice. It is also a great way to get ideas to bring into one’s own garden.
The conservancy encourages everyone to put on their best walking shoes, bring a cool beverage, and enjoy the blossoms, smells, tours and the hospitality of these spectacular gardeners.
Feel free to explore one garden or all three.
Signs will be posted designating tour stops.
Deadline for entry in the 2008 Most Beautiful Garden Contest is Monday, June 23, at 5 p.m. Entry forms appeared in the Mount Vernon News on May 28 and June 4. Entry forms should be accompanied by no more than two photos of the garden. Entries will be judged the week of July 9.
