Motorcycle safety

Motorcycle Ohio is a state operated organization that provides motorcycle as well as scooter training. Throughout the summer three-day courses are available for beginner riders and those that want to refresh their knowledge of motorcycle safety.

Lawsuits filed against state over dairy labels

COLUMBUS — Ohio’s attempts to block the use of certain dairy labels has resulted in two court cases filed in U.S. District Court in Columbus on Monday.

Tharp named master showman

MOUNT VERNON — Dogs and their 4-H’ers, plus their families and friends, met at the Multipurpose Building on the Knox County Fairgrounds Monday evening for the Dog Showmanship competition. The Master Showman award was won by Anevin Tharp and her beagle, Adam. Tharp has shown beagles for six years and has shown Adam for three.

Planning commission for 9-1-1 to reconvene

MOUNT VERNON — Local fire and law enforcement officials met with the Knox County Commissioners on Monday to explain some of the almost 30 reasons the Enhanced 9-1-1 Board believes necessitates reconvening the Knox County E 9-1-1 Planning Commission in order to overhaul the county’s 9-1-1 plan. The plan, drawn in 1993, has remained mostly unchanged in the past 15 years.

Erosion sites threaten Heart of Ohio Trail

MOUNT VERNON — On Monday morning, the Knox County Board of Commissioners met with Rob Clendening of the Knox Soil & Water Conservation District. Clendening reported on two places along the Heart of Ohio Trail where erosion is threatening the foundation on which the trail will be built.
