No violations found with Barber's campaign account

MOUNT VERNON — It seems that Knox County Sheriff David Barber’s use of the Law Enforcement Trust Fund to pay campaign expenses was not in violation of any Ohio campaign finance laws; the transactions, however, were not reported correctly.

Prosecutor named in trust fund investigation

MOUNT VERNON — An investigation has been opened by the Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation to look into allegations that Knox County Sheriff David Barber misused funds in the Law Enforcement Trust Fund.

Kroger expands beef recall

MOUNT VERNON — The tomato salmonella scare is dying down, but fears over E. coli in Kroger beef is flaring up. On June 25, Kroger launched a voluntary recall of ground beef sold between May 21 and June 8 sold at stores in Michigan, as well as Columbus and Toledo.

Errant siren causes confusion for residents

FREDERICKTOWN — Tornado sirens have caused some nervousness around Fredericktown this week, starting with an unplanned wake-up call around 10:30 Sunday night.
