MOUNT VERNON -- There were pioneers, Indians, horses, cowboys, Civil War soldiers and Western heroes in the Buffalo Bill Wild West Show re-enactment Saturday afternoon. The show was at the Knox County Horse Park on Thayer Road, southwest of Mount Vernon.
MOUNT VERNON -- Soroptimist International of Mount Vernon and Knox County, and Interchurch Social Services, sponsored the annual Christmas in July food drive on Saturday to restock the ISS food pantry. This year's goal is $20,000.
MOUNT VERNON -- She hasn't seen the old barn very often since she was 11, when her family moved off the farm. But Rosa Lee (Stricker) Hogg was delighted to see it as one of the featured structures in the upcoming "Barns-R-Noble"driving tour, organized by the Knox County Renaissance Foundation with help from the Knox County Art League. Such structures are a shared heritage to an agrarian community.

The Saturn lineup was supposed to make the American automotive giant competitive with foreign car companies, which for years had been carving out bigger and bigger chunks of the domestic market.

MOUNT VERNON -- After building notable anticipation for the Pro Top Outlaws Mid-Ohio Nationals this weekend, Pacemakers Dragway Park was forced to cancel the event on Saturday due to the weather.
MOUNT VERNON -- The Mount Vernon 12-year-old All-Stars decided that they wanted to stick around and play another day. Playing in the District Little League Championship on Saturday, the team defeated Cambridge, 7-4, to force a third game in the best of three series. The winner of which will move on to the state tournament.
LEXINGTON -- The best football players in north central Ohio gathered on a hot July Saturday night to play in the annual North Central Ohio Football Coaches Association All-Star game at Lexington High School. Nineteen area team members were selected to play in the prestigious game, all for the South squad. After regulation, the game was tied up at 18, but in overtime, the North squad was able to pull out the 25-18 victory.
