Safety concerns being addressed

MOUNT VERNON -- The hard work youths have been putting into preparing their fair projects for the Knox County Fair will soon pay off. Youngsters and their animals will be arriving at the fairgrounds this weekend, carefully preparing the stalls those animals will live in over the next week.

Interest picking up with 2-1-1 hotline

MOUNT VERNON -- Since the 2-1-1 crisis hotline and information center launched late last month, interest and calls have been picking up, according to Kristen McCloud, director of the center. The 2-1-1 center is located in Newark and serves Licking and Knox counties 24 hours a day, every day of the year.

Fungi found in Apple Valley

HOWARD -- Homeowner Harry Bales said he first noticed the large fungi growing under an oak tree outside his Apple Valley home last week.
