Hohman, Schlairet tops in goats

MOUNT VERNON -- Sarah Hohman walked away with the Master Showmanship award for goat showmanship, and Rayenna Schlairet received the award for Best Doe of Show after the goat show at the Knox County Fair on Tuesday.

Graumlich ends career on high note

MOUNT VERNON -- Katherine Graumlich ended her 4-H career with dairy market feeders by being awarded the Master Showman title Tuesday at the fairgrounds.

Gaddis wins grand champion beef

MOUNT VERNON -- Things worked out wonderfully for Jess Gaddis Tuesday evening at the Knox County Fair Market Beef Show. Gaddis and her steer, Mr. Wonderful, walked away with the Grand Champion award, besting a pool of somewhat less astounding competitors.

Poultry plentiful at '08 fair

MOUNT VERNON -- In a year with a tough economy and high feed costs, many young competitors turned to smaller animals such as poultry for fair competition, as was evidenced Tuesday by a nine-hour poultry show at the Knox County Fairgrounds.

Banbury threepeats as lamb show winner

MOUNT VERNON -- Taylor Banbury of Danville was the big winner of the Market Lamb Show at the Knox County Fair -- again.

English riders strut stuff

MOUNT VERNON -- It was a family affair, sort of, when the English High Point awards were announced.

Rodeo keeps crowd entertained

MOUNT VERNON -- While a filled grandstand of people cheered on their favorite horses during Tuesday's Knox County Fair, a large number of people gathered to cheer on their favorite cowboys. The Broken Horn Rodeo was in town, offering $400 to the cowboy who could ride with the best score.
