Prosser, Tharp top showmen - VIDEO

MOUNT VERNON -- Cory Prosser was named Showman of Showmen in the large animal class and Anevin Tharp captured the Showman of Showmen award for the class of small animals during competition Wednesday night. Coming in second place in the large animal category was Thad Tuggle; second place in the small animal category was Lauren Harvey.

Gambier man killed when van pins him

GAMBIER -- A 40-year-old Gambier man died following an accident at this Grove Church Road home on Wednesday morning.

Seniors pick their favorite pizzas

MOUNT VERNON -- The aromas of oregano, pepperoni and cheese made Country Club Retirement Campus smell like a high-class pizzeria on Monday evening. The free Pick The Pizza event drew seniors and others to sample the wares of 13 pizza parlors from all over Knox County.

Prosser top showman of beef

MOUNT VERNON -- Good things come to those who wait. For Corey Prosser of Bellville, the wait was long, but in the end, well worth it. Prosser was named Master Showman of the Beef Showmanship competition Wednesday at the Knox County Fair.

First-time exhibitor Bennett wins llama Master Showman

MOUNT VERNON -- A lively llama competition Wednesday at the Knox County Fair saw all of the competitors winning at some point along the line. Judge Patti Fischer from Warsaw in Coshocton County put an emphasis on the educational aims of the 4-H program, giving exhibitors tips throughout the show on how to improve their future efforts.

Pozderac has grand champion in sheep breeding

MOUNT VERNON -- Family and friends flocked to the sheep barn at the county fair Wednesday to watch young 4-H'ers show off their best rams, ewes and lambs.

Strait, Tharp have top rabbits

MOUNT VERNON -- Wednesday's rabbit show at the 2008 Knox County Fair started off with the market fryer competition. Each contestant presented a group of three rabbits for inspection by judge Nita Butler.

Scoles wins Rough Truck

MOUNT VERNON -- Eighty-seven contestants turned out for the Rough Truck competition at the Knox County Fair on Wednesday night, and they didn't disappoint the large crowd that gathered to cheer them on. There were rolls -- by Clint Knuckel of Howard and Adam Blankenhorn of Mount Vernon -- there were spins, and in the end, there was a champion.
