MOUNT VERNON — The Knox County Board of Health held a brief meeting Wednesday evening. The agenda included some short reports, but had no public participation.
Health commissioner Dennis Murray reported that a ruling from Judge Otho Eyster regarding a solid waste nuisance at 12815 Gilchrist Road in Monroe Township has not yet been issued. Murray also reported that another solid waste nuisance, at 11337 Armentrout Road in Berlin Township, has not yet been cleaned up. The case was referred to the Knox County Prosecutor’s Office on June 23. However, Murray said there was no word whether the case had been filed in common pleas court.
The board unanimously approved the resignations of Karla Adu and Lindsay Davis, both of whom had different reasons for submitting their resignations.
The board approved a contract with Jeremy Ketterman to provide Spanish translation service to clients served by the Help Me Grow program, medical and dental clinics, and WIC.
Other actions taken by the board regarding health department personnel included:
•Unanimously approving an increase in part-time hours for the Help Me Grow program service coordinator. Currently, the position is 20 hours per week; the board approved an increase of four hours per week.
•Unanimously approving a reduction in hours for the position of human resources at the health department. Murray said he had talked with the staff member in the position, and the employee agreed to reduce his work week from 40 to 30 hours on the condition that he retains health insurance benefits.
