JOHNSTOWN — A Johnstown-Monroe volunteer firefighter was killed in an industrial accident Thursday at 4:15 p.m. The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office said Philip Durbin, 44, of Johnstown, had raised the bed on his dump truck to unload gravel when the bed came in contact with a power line.

He was electrocuted in the cab of the truck. The location of the crash was a construction site on Darby Creek Road. He worked for the Hendren Trucking in Johnstown. Johnstown-Monroe Fire Department Chief Dudley Wright said Durbin was a volunteer firefighter/EMT with the department for 14 years. He leaves his wife and two children.

Chief Wright added that a fund for Durbin’s family has been established at Park National Bank at any branch. Also a fundraising golf outing has been scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 17, at Willow Run Golf Course.
