The price of gas, although it is fluctuating, is still high and continues to affect the price of many of the goods and services on which consumers depend. Food is high on the list of commodities that have risen in price.

Conn. company acquires rail line

Over the weekend, Genesee & Wyoming Inc. reached an agreement to acquire nine short line railroads known as the Ohio Central Railroad System. The OCRS operates owns 64 locomotives and operates over 445 miles of track and includes a line between Newark and Mount Vernon.

Voinovich: Gas prices affecting standard of living

Congress adjourned Friday for a five-week recess without voting on legislation that would help curb rising energy prices, which, according to Ohio Sen. George Voinovich, are becoming a matter of national security.
