MOUNT VERNON — More than 35 vendors are set up on South Main Street for this year’s Homemades and Trades Show. Held in conjunction with the Dan Emmett Music & Arts Festival, the show will run through Sunday.
Joanie’s was one of the businesses represented. Featuring items such as handmade wind chimes, signs and throw blankets, Joan Greene of Bellville is displaying her wares for the first time at the festival.
“I heard about the show through friends and other vendors,” said Greene. “I was told it was a good show.”
Hopefully, she said, the show won’t be affected by rain.
As of 1 p.m. Thursday, Greene had already made a couple of sales, but said it was a bit too early for many people to be out and about.
Also making their first appearance at the Homemades and Trades Show are Randy and Marlo Brown of Dublin. Although it’s their first time featuring caricatures at the trade show, it’s not their first time in the area. Former residents of the county, Randy has been featured at First Fridays; Marlo is a former art teacher at Mount Vernon High School.
“This is our second year of doing a lot of festivals,” said Marlo.
The Browns agreed it was a bit too early for the influx of visitors to their booth, but Mark said it was pretty much what they expected for a Thursday afternoon.
“We get busy in the evenings because people don’t want to carry [their caricature] around,” said Marlo.
“But we will hold them for you,” added Mark.
With over 30 vendors, visitors to the Homemades and Trades Show have plenty of wares from which to choose. Other items showcased include jewelry, antiques and crafts.
