Even before Linus was glued to his blanket in the Peanuts comic strip, blankets have given a feeling of warmth and security to young and old all over the world. A group of campers from the YMCA’s Summer Adventure program hope to offer the same to U.S. soldiers serving overseas.

The Knox County Board of Commissioners met with Jeff Harmer of the Apple Valley Property Owners Association on Monday morning to discuss issues regarding discharge from the lake. Representatives from ADR and Associates and the Knox County Department of Water and Wastewater were also present for the meeting.

In a conference call on Monday, Ohio 18th Congressional District Rep. Zack Space, D-Dover, announced the release of the “RENEW Ohio-18” report. The study, subtitled “Fighting for Ohio’s Economic Future,” identifies problems and proposes strategies for improving the economic growth of the district in coming years. The report’s title is short for “Realizing a New Economic Way for Ohio’s 18th Congressional District.”

As a new school year looms, the new East Knox Middle School is on track to welcome the district’s fifth- through eight-graders. As custodians and maintenance people move in furniture, equipment and supplies, secretaries, administrators and teachers have been getting their work spaces ready to go. All are energized and excited to have a part in inaugurating East Knox’s new educational facility.
